Water Management Plans in action

Yarra Valley Water is working together with our business customers to help them reduce their water usage. 

Here are some great examples of water saving initiatives: 

Kooyong Lawn Tennis Club has reduced water use by 80% or 18 million litres per year. Portable water is entirely substituted with alternative souces to sustain the tennis courts and landscape gardens while all other sources of use within the facility are managed efficiently.

Eastland Shopping Centre has reduced their total water use by 11.8million litres per year through water conservation initiatives and leak detection.

Cadbury expect to harvest in excess of 15 million litres of water, on average a year due to the installation of a large scale rainwater harvesting system at thier Ringwood site.

CSL at it's Broadmeadows site are recycling the waste water from part of its water purification process for reuse in cooling towers. This system can reuse approximately 5.8 million litres per year.

Since 2004 Scotch College has reduced it's drinking water consumption by 50% saving millions of litres of Melbourne's most previous resource.

By purchasing a recycling system, Note Printing Australia LTD (NPA) recycles up to 90% of the water used for printing in printing presses when printing backnotes.

Chadstone Shopping Centre has achieved a 86% reduction in drinking water usage by taking actions such as rainwater harvesting, installing water efficient fixtures, inline flow restrictors and air cooled mechanical services.

Since the beginning of 2006 daily water consumption at Henkel Australia's Kilsyth site has been reduced by 46% by the company undertaking a number of actions in different areas.

Over the past 3 years Wesley College, Glen Waverley Campus has saved over 10 million litres of drinking water by implementing an innovative program to ensure the campus is water efficient.

Amcor recognises its impact on the enivronment and the community and the role the company can play in addressing Corporate Social Responsibility. The Amcor Water Giving Project involves collecting rain water from the roof of Amcor.

In a first within the Australian textile industry, Pacific Brands Hosiery Group will save 28,000 million litres of water per annum through their recently installed waste-water treatment plant. The plant reuses the water from the dye house manufacturing process by means of reverse osmosis.

RSPCA (Victoria), Burwood East is a demonstration of architecturally award winning sustainable desing with new animal shelter facilities that incorporate energy and water efficiency practices.

RMIT University has one of the lowest water consumption in the tertiary sector at 5.7 kilolitres per Effective Full Time Student Unit, saving on average 28 million litres of water per year. Its strategic water management partnership with Yarra Valley Water and an innovative program to boost water efficiency has changed the way that its facilities and people use and think about water.

Tennis clubs in Yarra Valley Water's service area are working hard off the court, reducing water use by up to 80% thanks to the introduction of innovative water reduction treatments for red porous tennis court surfaces.

Tridonic Atco have saved 18 ML of water at its Tullamarine manufacturing plant as a result of engaging in the waterMAP program with Yarra Valley Water and undertaking a number of water conservation initiatives over the last 12 months.
