Meeting the water challenges that Melbourne is currently facing requires all of us to focus on how we use water and continually strive to use less.  There are many water conservation programs and services aimed at business customers across all sectors and we are working closely with business customers to help create environmentally sustainable practices and ensure our future water supplies.

Saving water means less pressure on Melbourne’s water resources, increased community satisfaction and improved financial performance for businesses!

 Support 155 Business Program

Support 155 is a call to action for small to medium sized businesses within Melbourne that are not already participating in programs such as waterMAP to help reduce our urban water use. Resources include free water audits, stickers and signs, showerhead exchange and reward and recognition. Register NOW and pledge your commitment to Support 155 to help save water within your business.

 The Laundries Water Efficiency Program

The Laundries Water Efficiency Program is a $1 million Victoria wide program funded by the Department of Sustainability and Environment and led by Yarra Valley Water to identify viable water saving alternatives for each laundry business sector and facilitate efficiency improvements through education, monitoring and evaluation tools, supplier discounts and financial incentives.

The program is designed to assist business owners improve their operations through clear information and product selection. Participation is free and the benefits to your business include reduced operating costs and improved efficiency as well as water savings.

 Best Practice Guidelines for Business 

Are you and your colleagues saving water at work, just like you do at home? Best practice guidelines for business provide information on easy ways to use water more efficiently in your workplace.They are based on case studies and best practice water use within typical commercial or institutional facilities, the past experiences of Yarra Valley Water customers and information from experts including plumbers and industry associations.

 Restaurants 'Rinse and Save'

As part of a trial program, Yarra Valley Water has been providing commercial kitchens with new water-efficient 'pre-rinse spray guns' to replace their old guns, which can use two to three times more water.

 Asian Restaurant Water Efficiency Program

Waterless wok stoves can save around 5,000 litres of water per day and result in financial savings for your business. Yarra Valley Water is currently re-launching our reimbursement program as part of our Asian Restaurant Water Efficiency program exclusively targeting businesses in the Box Hill Business Centre.

Businesses participating will be offered a range of solutions including water efficiency education, up to $2000 per business in reimbursements to assist the change over of old wok stoves as well as free plumber site assessments and retrofits.

 Fire sprinkler water conservation program

Yarra Valley Water together with the Plumbing Industry Commission and the Building Commission are working towards ways of reducing the large amount of water lost during fire service testing.

Showerhead exchange

Yarra Valley Water will provide a water efficient showerhead exchange program free of charge for your organisations facilities and staff.

 Water efficient cooling tower system program

By making simple operational changes and improving the maintenance of cooling tower systems, businesses can save water and money, while maintaining public health and safety.


 Smart metering with HydroShare

HydroShare provides businesses with an innovative way to identify which areas use the most water and to track and monitor ongoing usage for early leak detection. 



 Hydrozone

Hydrozone is a service designed to assist in managing the irrigation needs for customers with large open spaces while using less water. This helps ensure plants and turf continue to thrive.

SWEP helps all schools connected to reticulated water supply to save water and help promote water awareness throughout the community.
